After an usual 2020 with job losses, economic downturn, and loss of lives, what would 2021 bring? Keep on reading to find out more.

After an unprecedented year of fear and uncertainty, I see 2021 bringing a lot of excitement and joy for everyone. While COVID-19 cases in many countries still continue to be high and a new strain seems to be making news, reducing death rate and release of COVID-19 vaccine has sparked new hope and positivity in everyone’s mind. India has done a remarkable job in containing the spread of COVID-19 in spite of a large population and diverse socio-economic landscape. Specifically in India, most industries like pharma, automobile, and infrastructure have already started showing positive signs and others are expected to follow.
From a Human Resource view point, I am sure that 2021 will offer increased opportunities at all levels. Freshers from college, who saw limited job openings during the last year, as well as professionals who witnessed salary cuts and job losses during last year, will see many more options coming up during the year. These opinions are not founded on sheer hopes, but are based on authentic news flows and employment outlook surveys.
The confidence comes from the trends that India is witnessing much higher foreign investments flowing in industries as well as the stock market, and is likely to witness enhanced manufacturing activities during the coming year. These trends, coupled with various economic reforms, and increased government spending in various sectors like infrastructure, defense, renewable energy, and tourism will further complement economic growth, supporting the above hypothesis.
For 2021, while even a pessimist will feel that after touching the trough, there is only one way to go up, I am very optimistic and expect a significant bounce during 2021, benefitting most organizations as well as individuals. It would, however. be critical to take complete ownership of preparing oneself and unleash potential to take maximum advantage of coming opportunities.
